Peer Editing

This week, we worked in pairs to help us edit out animal helper books. The reader  helped the writer decide what to add or subtract to enhance the writing. 



Math Review

This week, we are working together to review past math concepts. 




Paleontologists

This week, room 109 pretended to be paleontologists. The students read books about dinosaurs. Then, they had to construct a pteradon or mammoth skeleton.

Lego Club Deadline Friday

Please consider signing your child up for Lego Club. It's a great way to work on science, math, cooperation and social skills. A form went home in today's green folder. It MUST be turned in by Friday. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Scientific Tools

On Tuesday, we pretended be paleontologist that had discovered dinosaur bones. We used tools such as a digital scale, rulers, a balance and brushes and tweezers to discover features of each bone.

Room 109 used based ten blocks to make two-digit numbers.

Although it was chilly, the field trip was a fantastic learning experience!










670 Cubes

Room 109 was given a challenge. They were to count all of the connecting cubes in the classroom. The students discussed different counting strategies and decided that making groups of tens would be the best way to figure it out. Each table had the task of making groups of ten. Then, we combined all of the groups to discover there were 670 cubes!
